About Waterdown
Waterdown, Ontario is a small town west of Burlington that has been a community of Hamilton, Ontario since 2001.
Located east of highway 6 along the historic Dundas highway 5, the village dates back to the 1600’s and the first inhabitants in the area, the Neutral Indians.
Waterdown was an important mill town from the 1800s to the early twentieth century and was named because one of the locals decided to christen the mill with water instead of alcohol.
Waterdown is in close proximity to other large cities so there’s lots to see close by. It’s approximately 68 km from Toronto and 85 km from Niagara Falls.
Watertown’s historic buildings and unique shops and pubs give it a real small town charm, and its many community events include the annual Ribfest, candlelit choral walk and regular movies in the park.
The picturesque Great Falls is a 10 metre waterfall that is popular with visitors and residents alike. This beautiful waterfall can be seen from the Bruce Trail which is the oldest and longest marked hiking trail in Canada.
Waterdown has the wonderful small town feel people are looking for which is why the population is growing rapidly. Commuters from the GTA are attracted by its character, affordable prices and proximity to the QEW and Go service.
