About Southampton
Southampton is located on the shores of Lake Huron in Bruce County, Ontario and has a population of just over 3,000 people.
In 1999, Southhampton joined with the Town of Port Elgin and Saugeen Township to form the new Municipality of Saugeen Shores.
Southampton is an extremely popular tourist destination thanks to its natural beauty and unspoiled beaches. The Boardwalk stretches along Lake Huron and offers great views of Chantry Island and its Lighthouse.
Visitors can learn more about the history of this area by touring the Lighthouse and the Light Keeper's Cottage as it existed in the late 1800’s. The state-of-the-art Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre attracts many visitors as does the popular Southampton Market.
Southampton offers an abundance of recreation activities to enjoy! Boating, sailing and hiking the numerous trails are popular in the summer while ice skating, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding keep residents active during the winter.
